Cardigan from MODE at Rowan

The idea behind MODE at Rowan is that garments are part of the wardrobe, not just something you knit and use occasionally, but it should be something that is part of your everyday style. I was offered the yarn and pattern to knit one of the garments from the collection and when looking through the collection I fell so hard for the Haze cardigan (Ravelry link) by Quail studio. When thinking about the use of the garment it was clear that another cardigan was a better fit for my wardrobe, and that's what MODE is all about. (I still love the Haze cardigan and would love to knit it too.)

After wearing the cardigan for a couple of weeks it's really proving to be a go-to cardigan whenever I feel a little cold. It's really comfortable, very warm, looks good and fits my wardrobe perfectly. The cardigan doesn't have any buttons, but I sometimes use a shawl pin to close it, for example when wearing it under a jacket.

The cardigan I choose was the 002 Cardigan (Ravelry link) by Martin Storey. The cardigan is oversize with a lace pattern and wide fancy ribbing at the bottom. It's knitted on 5 mm needles and the yarn is so light! I picked a light silver grey colour called Pumice in the Rowan Kid Classic yarn. I imagine wearing this cardigan with jeans, with skirts and over dresses, it's super versatile.

I don't often knit garments in pieces or bottom up, so this was a little bit of a challenge for me, but it's not a complicated pattern. I opted to do a knitted-on front band instead of sewing it on, and for the sleeves I picked up stitches from the body and knitted top down. The pattern is symmetrical so it doesn't show, you wouldn't know unless I told you.
